Cisco Visual Device Management
Cisco Visual Device Management
CONCEPT
The legacy system was a language that only engineers or very technical admin would understand. The platform supported almost all desk phones but there was no visual to describe the models. The admin was given two input fields; #tag and value. If you did not the specific information for those two fields you would not be able to set up the functionality whatsoever.
DESIGN
The challenge was to design a front-end interface simple enough for any user. The portal allows the user to manage however many devices have been assigned to them. There is a photograph for every supported model of phone to illustrate and explain to the user which buttons were soft keys, function keys, or line keys. There are no secret codes for a user to memorize. The functionality options are displayed in a simple dropdown. Previously the system had users pick ringtones with simply the labels of ringtone 1 or ringtone 2 or ringtone 3 and so on. There was no way to hear what those ringtones sounded like. The new interface allows the user to hear the ringtones and select the preferred ringtone per line key
